| Steps for Activation: |
If the activation criteria is met the jurisdictional law enforcement agency contacts the Department of Public Safety (DPS) to request Amber Alert activation. The DPS then patches the requesting agency into the Amber Alert Stations for transferal of information. The Amber Alert Stations then activate the Amber Alert through the Emergency Alert System, (EAS). When the Amber Alert Stations activate the Amber Alert through the EAS, it will immediately be delivered to all radio stations and television stations in Arizona. Participating stations should announce the information every fifteen minutes for the next two hours, then one time per half-hour for the next three hours. If the child is recovered or the Alert needs to be cancelled during the activation period of the alert, the originating law enforcement agency must make the appropriate notifications as soon as possible. |

| Criteria for Activation: |
The Arizona AMBER Alert should be activated when a child 17 years of age or younger, is abducted and there is reason to believe the child is in imminent danger of serious bodily injury or death. Or, a child medically diagnosed as suffering mental or physical disability is missing or abducted and there is reason to believe the child is in imminent danger of serious bodily injury or death: and there is information available to disseminate to the general public, which could assist in the safe recovery of the child and/or the apprehension of a suspect. |

The reporting phone number is only given to the law enforcement agency upon completion of the letter of agreement with the Arizona Broadcasters Association: however if you are reporting a missing child call 911 immediately. |
