The North Little Rock Police Department and radio station KSYG-FM initiated the alert plan in Central Arkansas. The Arkansas State Police, Office of the Attorney General, Arkansas Educational Television Network (AETN), Arkansas Sheriffs Association, Arkansas Association of Chiefs of Police, Prosecutor Coordinators Office, the Morgan Nick Foundation and local law enforcement. |
| Steps for Activation: |
Once a local law enforcement agency confirms abduction, they notify the Arkansas State Police. If the Arkansas State Police decide that the applicable criteria has been met the local law enforcement agency faxes child abduction form to State Police. State Police activates statewide alert and Media begins immediate broadcast. |

In order to activate an alert: The child must be 12 years old or younger; law enforcement must confirm that abduction has occurred; a threat of physical injury or death must exist or the child must have a mental or physical disability. |

In 2001 there were 7 level One Alerts: 5 were full EAS alerts; 2 did not reach full EAS because the children were found before the alerts were broadcast; 7 level Two Alerts: 6 were full level 2 alerts; 1 did not reach full level two alert because the child was found before the alert was initiated. In all 14 incidents the children were recovered and returned home!! |
