Participating Agencies and Organizations:
ISP, Illinois Emergency Management Agency (IEMA), Illinois Association of Chiefs of Police, Illinois Sheriff’s Association, and representatives from the St. Louis Area Regional Abduction Alert (SARAA) committee, local law enforcement.
Steps for Activation: When the jurisdictional law enforcement agency determines that the criteria for activation has been met they contact the ISP who then notifies the IEMA. The IEMA alert links to all state broadcast representatives who interrupt regularly scheduled programming to notify the public.
Scope of Amber Alert: Statewide
Criteria for Activation:

Law enforcement must confirm a child has been abducted.

The child must be under the age of 16 or have a proven mental or physical disability.

Police must believe the child is in danger of serious bodily harm or death.

There is enough descriptive information about the child, abductor, and/or suspect’s vehicle to believe an immediate broadcast alert will help.
Utilizes Emergency Alert System: IEMA Emergency Alert System (EAS).
Reporting Phone Number: 911 unless otherwise posted.
