| Steps for Activation: |
The Amber Plan can only be implemented by a law enforcement agency. Should a citizen call in and request a broadcast, the citizen would be referred to their local law enforcement agency. Law enforcement informs metro area media stations of child abduction via confidential facsimile transmission. Upon authentication the media stations then provide updated information to the listening audience on a regular basis. Follow-up information might include but not be restricted to: description of perpetrator; organization of search teams; updates regarding searches. |

| Criteria for Activation: |
The child must be under 18 years of age; the child must be believed to be abducted, and in danger of serious bodily harm or death; here must be enough descriptive information to believe the broadcast will help; request must be recommended by the law enforcement agency of jurisdiction. |

The Amber Alert Plan in Indiana distributes Amber Alerts using the Emergency Alert System (EAS), but also integrates broadcast fax, e-mail, broadcast station news sources and the amberalertindiana.com web site. |
