Kansas Attorney General, Kansas Bureau of Investigation, Kansas Highway Patrol, Kansas Association of Broadcasters, local law enforcement.
Steps for Activation: If abduction meets the criteria, a police officer notifies the emergency communications center. Then that information is faxed to radio and TV in the area.
Scope of Amber Alert: Statewide
Criteria for Activation: The child should be 17 years-of-age or younger or have a proven mental or physical disability; Law enforcement must believe the child is in danger of serious bodily harm or death; There is information to disseminate to the general public which could assist the recovery of the victim or apprehension of the suspect.
Utilizes Emergency Alert System: Yes
Reporting Phone Number: If you have seen a missing child contact local law enforcement in the jurisdiction you saw them immediately, or call 1-800-KS CRIME.
