Administrating Agency: The New Mexico Broadcaster’s Association (NMBA)
Participating Agencies and Organizations:
The Albuquerque Police Department, The Bernalillo County Sheriff's Department, local law enforcement and the New Mexico Broadcaster's Association.
Steps for Activation: The Child Exploitation Supervisor (Sgt. or Lt.) calls KKOB Radio with the info. KKOB then activates the broadcast statewide via both radio and T.V. The only time the system will be used is when it's a fresh stranger abduction with good info that the public will be able to help with. It will never be used for custodial interference cases (unless life threatening) runaways etc.
Scope of Amber Alert: State
Criteria for Activation: 1) A stranger abduction of a child or an abduction when there is probable cause to believe the child may be harmed.

2) Positive information that can be passed on to the public via T.V. and radio.

3) Implementation through designated police personnel. (A.P.D. implements through the Child Exploitation Detail Sergeant or Lieutenant.)

Success Story: Amber alert has not been used in New Mexico yet.
