MARC KLAAS SPEAKS ON THE ISSUES
As part of the Foundation's mission to raise public awareness about child safety, Foundation Founder and President Marc Klaas speaks frequently to concerned organizations around the country. Such engagements are usually open to the public. During the fall, he is scheduled to appear at:
- Midland, Texas, on October 1, as part of a ceremony in which the city of Petaluma, California, receives a community involvement award for its response to Polly Klaas' disappearance.
- The Marin Arts and Garden Center, Ross, California, on October 9, on child safety.
- The University Art Museum, Berkeley, California, on October 10, as part of the current exhibit called "The New Child." The show covers the period of 1730-1830, and, through depictions of children in British art, presents a sociological foundation for the way we raise children in America today.
- The Illinois State convention of the Parent-Teacher Association, Chicago, on October 27. As the keynote speaker, Klaas will focus on how to prevent child abduction, and how to weld federal, state, and local law enforcement with the media and concerned citizens to find missing children.
- The Comstock Club in Sacramento, California, on Friday, Nov. 17, on the topic of legislative action.
