Climb on board and demonstrate your support of this important initiative by letting the <a href=\"mailto:info@klaaskids.org\">FCC<\/a> know how you feel.<\/span><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div style=\"margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;\">\n<div style=\"text-align: left;\"><span class=\"Apple-style-span\" style=\"font-family: inherit;\"><br \/>\n<\/span><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div style=\"margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;\">\n<div style=\"text-align: left;\"><span class=\"Apple-style-span\" style=\"font-family: inherit;\"><strong>S<\/strong>ince 2004, the KlaasKids Foundation has been aggressively participating in a case at the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) in Washington, DC. KlaasKids wants the FCC to approve a proposal that will unleash major resources for the cause to recover missing children and adults at no cost to Government.\u00a0 The case has suffered from prolonged delays, and we need your voice to arouse the FCC from its slumber and jar it to action.<\/span><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"separator\" style=\"clear: both; text-align: left;\"><\/div>\n<div style=\"margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;\">\n<div style=\"text-align: left;\"><span class=\"Apple-style-span\" style=\"font-family: inherit;\"><br \/>\n<\/span><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div style=\"margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;\">\n<div style=\"text-align: left;\"><span class=\"Apple-style-span\" style=\"font-family: inherit;\">The proposal we support has been made to the FCC by Clarity Media Systems, LLC, a subsidiary of Flying J Inc., the company that owns and operates hundreds of Flying J travel plazas across the country\u2019s highways. The U.S.<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-3474 alignright\" src=\"http:\/\/www.klaaskids.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/07\/Flying-J-225x300.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"225\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.klaaskids.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/07\/Flying-J-225x300.jpg 225w, https:\/\/www.klaaskids.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/07\/Flying-J.jpg 360w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 225px) 100vw, 225px\" \/> Department of Transportation requires America\u2019s 2-million long haul truck drivers to spend 10-hours or more per day resting. Flying J provides a variety of vital services to long haul truckers making it a popular and viable rest destination. However, one service that truck drivers have never been able to access is basic television service.<span class=\"apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><strong>Clarity has proposed to provide 70 channels of television programming \u2013 local stations, national cable and satellite channels, and its own specially originated program channels to entertain and inform long haul truckers during federally mandated rest stops.<\/strong><\/span><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div style=\"margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;\">\n<div style=\"text-align: left;\"><span class=\"Apple-style-span\" style=\"font-family: inherit;\"><br \/>\n<\/span><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div style=\"margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;\">\n<div style=\"text-align: left;\"><span class=\"Apple-style-span\" style=\"font-family: inherit;\">In other words two million people, four million eyes that could immediately respond to word that a person is missing and seek to locate them are not getting that word.\u00a0 Clarity\u2019s proposal will enable these drivers &#8212; who are out on the roads and at highway rest stops, convenience stores, gas stations, and fast food restaurants where persons on the run frequently go \u2013 to receive news flashes, special reports, and full-length programming about unresolved missing person cases from local television stations, national cable and satellite channels, and Clarity channels.<\/span><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div style=\"margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;\">\n<div style=\"text-align: left;\"><span class=\"Apple-style-span\" style=\"font-family: inherit;\"><br \/>\n<\/span><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div style=\"margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;\">\n<div style=\"text-align: left;\"><span class=\"Apple-style-span\" style=\"font-family: inherit;\"><strong>Of particular note, Clarity proposes to originate a special Public Safety and Alert Channel that will focus on the plights of missing persons.<\/strong><span class=\"apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span>With my assistance, programming will be produced to highlight high profile cases like the disappearance of Morgan Harrington from a concert at Virginia Tech University on October 20, to low profile cases that failed to receive media attention to missing adults who are excluded by their age from the Amber Alert system. Clarity will make this special channel the default channel that every truck driver sees when he turns on the television set while at rest in his cab and that plays continuously in the common areas of the highway travel plazas.<\/span><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div style=\"margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;\">\n<div style=\"text-align: left;\"><span class=\"Apple-style-span\" style=\"font-family: inherit;\"><br \/>\n<\/span><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"separator\" style=\"clear: both; text-align: center;\"><\/div>\n<div style=\"margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;\">\n<div style=\"text-align: left;\"><span class=\"Apple-style-span\" style=\"font-family: inherit;\">I know firsthand the valuable role that informed long haul drivers can play in fulfilling our mission to recover <img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-3472\" src=\"http:\/\/www.klaaskids.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/07\/Morgan_Harrington_courtesy_photo.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"383\" height=\"259\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.klaaskids.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/07\/Morgan_Harrington_courtesy_photo.jpg 383w, https:\/\/www.klaaskids.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/07\/Morgan_Harrington_courtesy_photo-300x203.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 383px) 100vw, 383px\" \/>missing persons.\u00a0 When Polly was abducted, the long-haul driver community made<span class=\"apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span>a point to circulate her poster broadly in the hope that she could be recovered.
